CHANEL Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2016/17 Collection
On Tuesday July 5th the space under the glass roof at The Grand Palais in Paris was transformed to look like the ateliers on Rue Cambon where the CHANEL Haute Couture pieces are created to display the CHANEL Fall/Winter 2016/17 Haute Couture Runway Show. Sewing machines & tables, layered fabrics, sketches and mannequin figures created transported the audience to the create world of CHANEL.
The collection itself was sleek, structured and graphic. Autumnal shades of browns, beiges, oranges & greys were enriched with pops of pink, black & white, and each piece had an attention to stitching, creating a tromp l'oeil effect. Romantic fabrics of tulle, chiffons, organza crepe georgette and embroidered silk softened the structured looks, and the etherial tied back hairstyle with a grosgrain headband made for a dreamy overall feeling.
When it comes to Chanel, it is all about the quality, and when it comes to Haute Couture, it is noticing the final touches that are barely visible...the stitching spun with fringed spirals and braids plaited with tulle and tweed to the embroidery of stones, matt sequins & beads multiplied endlessly to create flower patterns to the plethora of different pleating from bias cut pleats to accordion to cone to sunray to flat -these are the details that make the collection so breathtaking.
