Flashback: European Summer with American Express
I absolutely love to travel...I have been lucky enough to do a lot of it in my life, and I'm always dreaming of new places to explore or returning to some of the places I've already been. My dream is to see as many places and experience as many different cultures as possible.
What people might not know is how much work goes into each and every trip behind the scenes...So I was super excited to team up with American Express Canada and use my Platinum Card travel benefits to visit Europe in July.
From start to finish, my Amex Platinum Card helped me feel like a VIP. It all began when I called the American Express Travel team, who found me the best flights at competitive prices and booked some of the most beautiful hotels I've ever seen. I was headed off to Croatia, Italy and Greece with the help of Amex Travel, and I knew it was going to be a vacation to remember.
Before I left, I took peace of mind knowing I was covered for travel mishaps like flight delays or lost/stolen baggage. When I walked into the Vancouver International Airport, my Card granted me access into the Plaza Premium Lounge before taking off, it was seriously a dream! It made me feel so wonderful too, knowing that the American Express Platinum Card has a no pre-set spending limit on purchases-so if any unexpected expenses came up along the way (hmm, shopping spree!) I wouldn't have to worry.
When we arrived in Rome and rented a car to drive to Positano, I earned 1.25 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent, so just by renting the car I earned points to put towards future rewards (which can be used for travel, shopping & dining) While I was gone, every time I used my Amex it made me smile because I knew I was earning points - Even on gelato in Rome & tickets to walk the Old Town Wall in Dubrovnik - it was great.
One of the most difficult challenges when traveling, especially when bouncing around from Positano to Athens then Santorini, Tirana, Dubrovnik and then Rome, can be finding a great hotel. Once again the American Express Platinum Travel team came to the rescue and all of my worries evaporated as they were able to book some great hotels! They are available 24/7 which was a huge life saver for me, because we booked our overnight ferry from Croatia to Italy very last minute. Typically that type of last minute planning would totally stress me out, but I was completely at ease know Amex had my back. We were also able to book our hotel the night before arriving in Croatia where we stayed at the most beautiful resort on the water, Valamar Dubrovnik President Hotel. The view was incredible; white sand beaches & clear blue sea, I was in heaven! Everything from the panoramic views to the food and friendly staff was perfect. I would never have been able to lock down this amazing hotel if not for the Amex Travel Team.
Traveling with the American Express Platinum Card honestly changed the way I vacation - it was unlike any other trip I've done before!
